Friendly Fridge Bronx Privacy Policy
Friendly Fridge BX (‘FFBX’) is a project by the Friendly Fridge Foundation. We have created this Policy to help you understand:
What kinds of personal information we collect when you interact with us, whether as a volunteer, donor, or member of the community, and
How we use and share personal information.
This policy applies to your interactions with us through our website, in person, via email or other communications, or using our application.
What Information We Gather
FFBX collects personal information you give us as well as information we collect automatically when you visit our website.
Information You Give Us
This includes information you voluntarily share with FFBX. This may be through online forms, offline sign-up sheets, emails, donations, or over the phone when you call us. This includes:
Contact Information. For example, your email/postal address, or telephone number when you sign up for our newsletter or services, volunteer with us, email us, order a shirt, or donate.
Demographic Information. Your age, people in your household, and zip code or bus route.
Dietary Preferences. For example, whether you’d prefer, or cannot accept, certain kinds of foods.
Transactional Data. Information about donations or purchases you may have made.
Audio or Visual. For example, your image or voice captured if we take a photograph when you attend an in-person event or leave us a voicemail.
Surveys. From time to time, we also send out surveys that you have the option to fill out. Where feasible, these are anonymous.
Other Information. Any other information you choose to provide, such as in an email.
Information We Collect Automatically
Like most websites we may receive and record data that web browsers and servers typically make available. This data allows FFBX to provide and improve its services. This includes:
Cookies. These are small pieces of data that websites store on a device, which enhance your website experience.
Device identifiers. Such as the model of your phone, browser version, or operating system you use to browse our sites or use our mobile application.
IP address and related information. For example, your internet service provider, or very approximate geolocation.
Media. For example, when you download content from our emails, or any referrals from another website.
How We Use Your Information
We use personal information to provide our community with services, send communications, and/or to process any donations or orders made through our website.
Services and Service Improvement. FFBX redirects food from our partner organizations to our community fridge in the Bronx and notify our community of relevant deliveries. To do this, we use your personal information to get in touch and to know what deliveries might be of interest to you or others like you. We use survey information to improve our services.
Communications. We deliver newsletters to our subscribers, notify our supporters of upcoming events, welcome questions and comments via our email or telephone, and field questions from our community. To do this, we use the personal information you provide when you subscribe for our newsletter, contact, or join us as a community member to send communications through various channels, including e-mail and telephone.
Processing Donations. As a nonprofit, FFBX relies on donations to accomplish our mission and provide services to our community. To do this, we use the personal information you provide to process your donations. We may also use your contact information to solicit donations and inform you of upcoming fundraising events.
Understanding Constituents. We aggregate personal information about those who use our services, our volunteers, and donors to better understand them (for example, “40% of our users live alone”) and may disclose such aggregated statistics to prospective donors, volunteers, and other third parties to describe our services and for other lawful purposes. These statistics don’t personally identify anyone.
Media. FFBX is excited to share its story with the world- on Instagram (follow us at @thefriendlyfridgebx!) and with news outlets. If you attend an event, we may use photo or videos of the event to promote FFBX.
How We Share Personal Information
FFBX engage vendors, service providers, and other professionals who may have access to your personal information to provide us with services, including:
Website and application hosts. We use vendors to maintain our website, host our application, and provide analytics about our website visitors.
Payment processors. We use vendors to process credit card transactions.
Volunteers and partners. Our volunteers may sometimes have access to personal information (e.g. a delivery address) to do their volunteering work with us.
Other professionals. We engage professionals to help ensure we comply with our legal obligations.
We may also share your personal information under other circumstances, such as to fulfill a request you make, with your consent, or as required by law. FFBX does not sell or rent personal information.
